Review of Optimo Blunts – How to Roll an Optimo Blunt – Optimo Cigarillos

February 20th, 2010

I will save us all a lengthy review on these.  Basically the same as the swisher sweet, slightly thinner paper, and available in different flavors (like peach yum!), at the same prices and also available in 5-packs.

If you like swishers you’ll like these and the flavors are better and some would say the smoke is smoother, but that is still up for debate.

How to Roll a Swisher Blunt

One of the easiest and quickest blunts to roll if you know the trick.
  1. Start on one end of the blunt, use your thumbnail or a blade to start a cut lengthwise down the cigarillo.
  2. Use your thumbs to split the cigar.  Start by using your thumbs to spread the tear and work your way down.
  3. Empty the tobacco out of the cigar and be careful not to detach the thin outer paper.
  4. Insert your smoke into the blunt lick one side and tuck the other side working your way from one end to the other to seal it.

Voila! Your smoking a swisher.  Probably the fastest blunt to roll, many would say easier than rolling with papers.

Review of the Swisher Sweets Blunt

The swisher sweet is the west coast standard.  Swisher sweets can be found almost all over the united states in a variety of flavors and are also available in a mini format (nice for a personal blunt).  Available at most gas stations for a reasonable price and available in 5 packs, the swisher is an easy choice when in doubt.

Review of Dutch Master Blunts – How to Roll a Dutch Master Blunt

How to Roll a Dutch Master Blunt

  1. Start at the mouth piece end of the cigar and unravel the outer leaf. (it may take some saliva to get it to come off without cracking, many find that breathing hot breath on the blunt helps moisten it to unravel easier.)
  2. Take the outer leaf off completely and put it aside, use a blade or your thumbs to crack the blunt open lengthwise. (there is a seam where the inner paper is glued, this is the easiest spot to crack it open.)
  3. Empty the tobacco out of the dutch.
  4. Place your smoke inside the blunt and trim off any excess paper. (The strip where the paper overlaps is the “cancer paper” you wanna rip that off.)
  5. Roll the blunt between your index fingers and thumbs until it rolls over onto itself.
  6. Use your lip (not your tongue!) to moisten the top edge of the paper, use the moisture to stick the paper to itself.
  7. Use a pen to pack your smoke in if the blunt isn’t tight enough.
  8. This step is optional but is considered essential by many connoisseurs. Moisten the leaf you removed in step 1 and rewrap it around the blunt. This helps slow the burning and makes the blunt smoke much longer. (Use a lighter to dry the blunt as much as possible, nobody wants a blunt dripping with saliva, yuck!)

Review of the Dutch Masters Blunt

The dutch is an east coast favorite.  Ask any serious blunt smokers in New York or Boston whats smoking, and they’ll let you know, a dutch.  Featured in many hip hop and rap songs, and a favorite among college students, the dutch has long been a blunt smokers staple.  With a variety of flavors and mini dutches available the dutch won’t ever let you down.  Everyone has their own style of rolling a dutch master blunt, but ultimately the result is the same.  A nice long blunt that holds enough smoke for a few heads and a nice long session.

Review of Phillies Blunts – How to Roll a Phillies Blunt

Review of the Phillies Blunt

The philly is a classic.  This is where the word “blunt came from”.  You can’t call yourself a blunt smoker if you’ve never puffed a phillies blunt.  They come in a variety of flavors and are rather large allowing for blunts of nearly any size to be rolled.  Some common complaints of phillies blunts are that they are harsh, and hard to roll tightly, as well as hard to seal up.  Overall the Phillies blunt deserves it’s place in the hall of fame but is by no means the rolls royce of blunts.

How to Roll a Phillies Blunt

  1. Use a blade of some sort to split the blunt lengthwise. (Experts can use their thumbnails to “crack” the blunt, be careful not to break the entire blunt in half.)
  2. Empty the tobacco out of the philly blunt.
  3. Place your smoke inside the blunt and trim off any excess paper.
  4. Roll the blunt between your index fingers and thumbs until it rolls over onto itself.
  5. Use your lip (not your tongue!) to moisten the top edge of the paper, use the moisture to stick the paper to itself.
  6. Use a pen to pack your smoke in if it is too loose and enjoy!
